PLEX for Good's most recent named drive (as of 2026) - $26,140 split equally between Ahbap and Doctors Without Borders for relief efforts following the catastrophic February 2023 earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria.
PLEX for GOOD - Türkiye and Syria Earthquakes (2023)
On 6 February 2023, two massive earthquakes - a magnitude-7.8 followed nine hours later by a magnitude-7.5 - struck southern Türkiye and northern Syria. The combined event killed over 59,000 people, injured more than 120,000, displaced millions, and was the deadliest earthquake in Turkey's modern history. Antakya (ancient Antioch), Kahramanmaraş, and Gaziantep were among the worst-hit cities; in northern Syria the damage compounded an already-grim civil-war humanitarian situation.
CCP launched PLEX for GOOD: Türkiye & Syria on 10 February 2023, running through 23:59 UTC on 21 February 2023. The drive used a two-charity split distinct from the COVID-19 drive's player-choice mechanism - instead, every donation was split equally between two named partners:
- Ahbap - a Turkish disaster-relief NGO founded by musician Haluk Levent, which had become one of the leading on-the-ground responders in the affected Turkish provinces.
- Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières - handling cross-border medical aid, particularly in northern Syria where access was politically and logistically constrained.
The drive raised $26,140 - the smallest named drive since the 2005 founding tsunami drive ($25,326). The modest result was widely attributed to a combination of factors: PLEX for Good fatigue in the immediate wake of the record-shattering Ukraine 2022 drive eleven months earlier; a shorter donation window (just under twelve days, versus two-to-three weeks for most prior drives); the broader downturn in EVE's active-subscriber base in 2023; and the absence of CCP matching (which had doubled the Ukraine drive's effective scale).
For EVE-history context: this drive ran during the lead-up to the Viridian expansion (June 2023) - the Viridian patch with corp projects, ESS bank changes, and capital rebalancing. The Türkiye/Syria drive concluded in late February; Viridian dev-blog season started shortly after.
As of 2026 this is the most recent named PLEX for Good drive, though the programme itself was relaunched / refreshed in 2026 ("PLEX for GOOD Is Here For Good") with a permanent rather than per-disaster framing.
