Revenant - Deathless Circle
Image: CCP Games · Fan-content policy: https://www.eveonline.com/news/view/eve-online-fan-content-policy
A new pirate faction (Deathless Circle) entered nullsec, alongside new ship lines, new mechanics, and a Pochven-adjacent narrative beat.
Revenant - what changed
Background
Revenant (12 November 2024) is the post-Equinox / post-Havoc content drop that locked the pirate-faction infrastructure in. The headline ships are the Tholos destroyer and Cenotaph battlecruiser - high-mid-slot active-shield-tank hulls with web-resistance and mixed-damage bonuses, fitable only with the Breacher Pod Launcher (the first damage-over-time weapon system in EVE; pods apply DoT each second capped at a flat number or a fraction of target HP).
Both hulls are paid for in Atavums + Encrypted Infomorphs redeemable from Deathless traders in Zarzakh, and Encrypted Infomorphs come from a new structure type: the Mercenary Den, anchored at Skyhooks on temperate planets, generating infomorphs every hour. MTOs (Mercenary Tactical Operations) layer solo-cruiser PvE on top of the Den. The Deathless / Triglavian / EDENCOM narrative continued through Zarzakh.
What changed, by playstyle
PvP
Revenant is where the pirate-side hull line graduates. The Tholos destroyer and Cenotaph battlecruiser are the post-Havoc Deathless ships, paid for in Atavums + Encrypted Infomorphs from your Mercenary Dens, fitted with the brand-new Breacher Pod Launcher - the first DoT weapon in EVE, cap on per-second damage, tick-based application. Mercenary Dens come with a 24-hour reinforce timer (±6h jitter), so as a PvP corp you've got a new recurring structure-bash content type at temperate planets. MTOs (Mercenary Tactical Operations) are solo-cruiser PvE with PvP risk baked in. If you logged out before the pirate side was a real faction - any time pre-2023 - Revenant is the patch that locked in its top end.
PvE
Revenant gives PvE a passive-income structure (Mercenary Den) and a solo-cruiser content ladder (MTOs) at the same time. Drop a Mercenary Den at a Skyhook on a temperate planet, and it generates Encrypted Infomorphs every hour - sell them or take them to the Deathless trader in Zarzakh and exchange for Tholos / Cenotaph hulls or Breacher Pod components. Atavums are the companion exploration drop. If your last memory of PvE was L4 missions, this is a different shape: lower per-hour ceiling, higher passive baseline, and a real solo-cruiser content ladder attached.
Social / political
Revenant deepens the pirate-aligned social layer that Havoc introduced. The Mercenary Den is structurally important: it's a solo- and small-corp-friendly deployable, so a single pilot can run a real pirate-side income loop without alliance buy-in. Zarzakh is the social hub - Deathless trader, Shipcaster (from Havoc), MTO contracts, Den BPO market - and the 24-hour reinforce timers on Mercenary Dens create a scheduled-defence rhythm at a smaller scale than nullsec sov, which is healthy for new and returning players.
Revenant also iterated on the Equinox corp-projects framework with Strength in Numbers updates. Expanded Project Parameters let directors create a single project covering multiple ship types or locations (eliminating the "one project per shape" workaround); Ship Insurance joined as a corp-project type that automates ship-replacement payouts; Participation Limits distribute responsibilities across membership; project deadlines force scheduling discipline. AIR daily goals can now be completed via EverMarks. Brand managers got Tailored SKIN listings in the Paragon Hub for distributing corp-signature designs; SKINR itself gained a second pattern slot plus a Randomize button for design generation.
Aftermath / what stuck
If your last memory of EVE was 2018-era, Revenant + Havoc + Equinox together are a single pivot: pirate-side faction is now a real faction with its own structure stack, ship line, weapon system, and lore arc. The Breacher Pod Launcher is the first new weapon-system primitive since Entropic Disintegrators (Into the Abyss, 2018) - a six-year gap, with implications for fitting tools and EFT-style theory crafting that haven't fully shaken out yet. Mercenary Dens normalised "solo deployable income structure" as a category that previously didn't exist; expect future expansions to layer on top of it.

PvP
Tholos destroyer + Cenotaph battlecruiser entered service as Deathless-trader hulls - high-mid-slot, active-shield-tank, web-resistance-bonused hulls with damage bonuses to projectile + close-range missile, available only via Atavum/Infomorph exchange in Zarzakh.
-
4
PvE
Mercenary Dens are deployable structures at Skyhooks on temperate planets - they passively generate Encrypted Infomorphs every hour, which can be sold or exchanged with Deathless traders in Zarzakh, opening a new passive-income loop for solo and small-corp pilots.
-
4
Social
Mercenary Dens are corp- and individual-deployable, so a single pilot can run a pirate-side income operation without the corp/alliance machinery - a meaningful "solo and small-corp" social path that EVE has historically lacked.

Breacher Pod Launchers shipped as the first damage-over-time weapon system in EVE - Small + Medium variants, fitable only on Tholos / Cenotaph, fire SCARAB pods that apply per-second DoT capped at a flat number or a fraction of target HP, whichever is lower.
caveat
First new weapon-system primitive since Entropic Disintegrators (Into the Abyss, 2018) - a six-year gap.
-
3
Mercenary Dens have a 24-hour reinforcement timer with a 6-hour jitter - they're a new fight class and create recurring scheduled engagements at temperate-planet Skyhooks across nullsec, lowsec, and pirate space.
-
3
MTOs (Mercenary Tactical Operations) - solo-cruiser PvE missions accessible from Mercenary Dens - bridge PvE/PvP boundaries (mission-runner content with embedded fight risk) and seed the next year of solo-cruiser doctrine.
-
3
Existing pirate-aligned doctrines from Havoc carried into Revenant with the new Deathless ships at the top end - the pirate-side small-gang meta now has a fully-realised hull line from frigate (Mekubal) through battlecruiser (Cenotaph).
-
4
Mercenary Dens are deployable structures at Skyhooks on temperate planets - they passively generate Encrypted Infomorphs every hour, which can be sold or exchanged with Deathless traders in Zarzakh, opening a new passive-income loop for solo and small-corp pilots.
-
4
MTOs (Mercenary Tactical Operations) - solo-cruiser PvE missions launched from Mercenary Dens - give pirate-aligned PvE a structured mission ladder with embedded PvP risk.
-
3
Atavums became a high-value PvE/exploration drop - explorers and pirate-PvE pilots collect Atavums + Infomorphs to redeem the new Tholos / Cenotaph hulls + Breacher Pod components in Zarzakh.
-
3
EDENCOM and Triglavian narrative arc continued through Zarzakh - the Deathless storyline that started in Havoc deepened, with new lore drops and PvE encounters the Triglavian-sympathetic player can run.
-
4
Mercenary Dens are corp- and individual-deployable, so a single pilot can run a pirate-side income operation without the corp/alliance machinery - a meaningful "solo and small-corp" social path that EVE has historically lacked.
-
3
Zarzakh is now a proper post-Havoc social hub for pirate-aligned players - the Deathless trader, the Shipcaster (from Havoc), MTO contracts, and Den BPO market all centralise the pirate-aligned community in a single station.
-
3
Mercenary Den 24-hour reinforce timers create scheduled defensive content for small corps - "when's the timer" is a community calendar item, lower-stakes than nullsec sov ops but with similar rhythms.
-
2
Deathless / pirate-faction lore continued building Zarzakh as a faction with its own internal politics - community-roleplay players got a deeper backdrop than at Havoc launch.
Impact score 1-5 (5 = paradigm shift for that playstyle).
