Resource Redistribution - Scarcity Begins

Asteroid belts and ore composition were rewritten in a phased rollout, culminating with the Phase 1 Redistribution Update on 13 October 2020 and beginning the multi-year Scarcity era.
Resource Redistribution - Scarcity Begins
Resource Redistribution overhauled where ore could be mined and what each asteroid contained. Highsec asteroid fields were stripped of high-end ore, nullsec became the only viable source for several materials, and overall mineral output across the cluster was cut hard. The change rolled out in phases - earlier scarcity-precursor patches starting late 2019 - and culminated with the Phase 1 Redistribution Update on 13 October 2020.
This kicked off the Scarcity era: a multi-year period of constrained mineral supply, rising ship prices, and shifting industrial geography. Subsequent patches added further compression and rebalancing; the era was rolled back starting in late 2021 (see Scarcity Ends).
Ship prices, mineral basket values, and ratting/mining returns from before mid-2020 are not comparable to the current economy. Expect to relearn the cost basis for everything you used to fly.
