EVE Invasion World Tour 2019 - Fanfest Goes Multi-City

There was no Reykjavik Fanfest in 2019. In its place CCP ran a year-long, multi-city programme branded the EVE Invasion World Tour - themed around the Triglavian Invasion launch, the expansion that picked up the storyline seeded at Fanfest 2018. The tour stops, in chronological order, were:

The shift away from a single annual Reykjavik convention was widely read as a consequence of Pearl Abyss's September 2018 acquisition of CCP. The new owner wanted broader geographic reach for the brand; CCP wanted to lower the travel-cost barrier for a player base concentrated in EU+NA timezones. The "Fanfest HOME" stop in Finland - where CCP literally brought the event to a player's living room as the prize of a video competition - was the most visible piece of the year's "smaller, closer" framing.

The tour was anchored to the Invasion expansion which launched 28 May 2019: each stop included Triglavian-Invasion themed talks, sneak previews of upcoming patches, and locally-organised in-game fleets to participate in invasion content. EVE London on 23 November is on record as the official final stop.
