Capsuleer Day XV - Operation: Conscious Interruption (2018)

EVE's fifteenth-anniversary event - officially the Fifteenth Anniversary with the Operation: Conscious Interruption arc, 2-15 May 2018 - was the first multi-week themed anniversary: Drifter-themed combat sites, an Apotheosis shuttle drop on 7 May, and the Sunesis/Gnosis/Praxis ship trio for Omega. It set the format every later year inherited, though CCP only adopted the "Capsuleer Day" name afterwards.
Capsuleer Day XV - Operation: Conscious Interruption (2018)
2 May 2018 to 15 May 2018. The fifteenth-anniversary edition of EVE's launch - officially branded the Fifteenth Anniversary with its Operation: Conscious Interruption event arc, not yet called "Capsuleer Day" (CCP adopted that name later; see the note below) - was the moment CCP turned the annual single-day gift drop into a two-week themed event with structured content, a marketing identity, and a multi-tier reward ladder. Everything that came after - the XVI through XXIII formats, the month-long XX 20th anniversary, the 2026 Warpath rework - descended from this one.
The event arc was titled "Operation: Conscious Interruption." In fiction, the Society of Conscious Thought (SoCT) were under attack from the Drifters, and capsuleers were recruited to defend Society facilities and strike back at Drifter staging points to recover stolen SoCT technology. The event populated themed combat sites as both visible beacons and scannable signatures across known space, scaled across rookie / solo / group / PvP difficulty bands. Successful defenders earned points redeemable for the new XV Anniversary SKINs and event-exclusive rewards.
The set-piece moment was the 7 May 2018 redeem-system gift drop. Every active account received an Apotheosis anniversary shuttle - the special-edition Jove-design hull - plus an Anniversary Capsule SKIN and Anniversary apparel. Omega Clone State accounts received an additional package of three SoCT-aligned ships: the Sunesis destroyer, the Gnosis battlecruiser, and the Praxis battleship, the latter making its debut as an anniversary gift. The "SoCT marks the dawn of the Capsuleer Age every five years" framing was used to justify the unusually-generous 15th-anniversary hull drop.
None of the SKINs or sites lasted past 15 May; the Apotheosis and Praxis hulls are still in circulation but were not the first time those hulls had appeared. What changed permanently was the format itself: two-week-plus event window, login campaign, themed combat sites, Omega/Alpha-tiered rewards, SoCT or other faction lore framing, branded SKIN sets. Every subsequent anniversary - XVI 2019, XVII 2020 Triglavian, XVIII 2021 Foundation, XIX 2022 DED-vs-Smugglers, XX 2023 month-long, XXI 2024 conduits, XXII 2025 Drifters, XXIII 2026 Warpath - is a variation on this template.
A note on the name. CCP did not call the anniversary "Capsuleer Day" in 2018; the 2018 event was officially the Fifteenth Anniversary, run as the Operation: Conscious Interruption arc. The label itself first surfaced on a 2017 anniversary Capsule SKIN (the YC119 Capsuleer Day SKIN), returned as the 2020 Capsuleer Day Clash event sites and the 2021 Happy Capsuleer Day headline, and only became the formal numbered series - Capsuleer Day XIX, XX, and onward - from 2022. This archive uses "Capsuleer Day" as a retroactive umbrella for EVE's launch-anniversary observances across all years.
