EVE Fanfest 2018 (12-14 April, Harpa) was the on-stage reveal of Into the Abyss - the Abyssal-Deadspace solo-PvE pockets, the Triglavian Collective faction, filaments, and the multi-year storyline that would culminate in the 2019 Invasion and Pochven.

Fanfest 2018 - The Triglavian Reveal

Fanfest 2018 ran 12-14 April 2018 at Harpa. It is the most consequential post-2014 Fanfest in the sense that mattered most to long-term players: this is where the Triglavian arc was launched.

The Day-1 keynote, delivered by CCP Seagull, CCP Bergur, CCP Rise and CCP Hellmar, unveiled the Into the Abyss expansion in detail. The package CCP put on stage was unusually dense for a single keynote:

  • Abyssal Deadspace - instanced solo PvE pockets accessed via consumable filaments, with timed escape, scaling tiers (T1-T5), weather effects that buffed or nerfed common module families, and loot-or-die stakes.
  • The Triglavian Collective - a previously unseen humanoid offshoot living in pocketed deep space, with a distinct ship line (Damavik, Vedmak, Leshak, Drekavac, Nergal) that used its own weapon mechanic (Entropic Disintegrators, ramping damage over time).
  • Filaments as a tradeable currency, integrating Abyssal content into the broader market.
  • A continuing emergent storyline in which the Triglavians would eventually escape containment.

Coverage at the time captured the room reaction: this was the first genuinely new ship line and faction added in years, and it tied directly into multiple unresolved threads - the Drifter / Sleeper civilisation, the unexplained signals at Jove Observatories, and the Sansha-style horror tone of the Kyonoke Inquest from the previous Fanfest. The follow-on payoff arrived at three different points across the next two and a half years: Into the Abyss launching May 29 2018, the Triglavian Invasion in 2019, and Pochven in 2020.
