Fighter Rework and FAX Class
Carriers, Supercarriers, and the new Force Auxiliary class were rebuilt around squadron-based fighters with point-in-space orders; the legacy fighters/fighter-bombers system was retired.
Fighter Rework and FAX Class
The 2016-2017 capital rework retired the legacy fighter and fighter-bomber drone system. Carriers and Supercarriers now launch up to five squadrons of identical fighters controlled as cohesive units, with health expressed as fighter count rather than HP. The new control paradigm let pilots send fighters to points in space rather than only to targets, with squadrons restricted to the carrier's grid (no more cluster-wide skynet escalation).
Three fighter classes (Light, Support, Heavy) replaced the old hull-specific drones, each with three weapon options. The Force Auxiliary (FAX) capital-logistics class - introduced late 2016 and matured by Arms Race - absorbed the remote-repair role formerly carried by carriers.
If your capital experience was carrier-skynet ratting (off-grid drones farming a constellation), that loop is gone. Carriers are now squadron-controllers tethered to their own grid, and capital logi is a FAX problem.
