EVE Online's 8th anniversary on 6 May 2011 - CCP gifted every active account a six-pack of Quafe Zero boosters; the small gift sat awkwardly two months ahead of the Incarna expansion and Monocle-gate backlash.

Capsuleer Day 2011 - 8th Anniversary

The 8th anniversary of EVE Online's launch fell on 6 May 2011. CCP returned to a redeemable gift this year, but a deliberately small one: a Quafe Zero six-pack - six instances of a Quafe Company booster that gave a one-hour 5% bonus to ship Speed and Scan Resolution with no booster side effects. The gift was announced ahead of time on 29 April 2011 in the dev-blog "A toast to another eight years (at least)" and made available via the redeem system on 6 May.

The gift's modesty looks pointed in retrospect. The 8th anniversary sat two months ahead of the Incarna expansion (21 June 2011), which introduced walking-in-stations and the NeX cosmetics store with its infamous 60 PLEX (~$70) Monocle. The community backlash that followed - leaked internal CCP newsletters, the "Goons riot in Jita" protests, the "Summer of Rage" - defined CCP's 2011 public relationship with the player base far more than the May anniversary did. For the returning player, the 8th-anniversary card is best read as the calm before that storm.
