The third annual Fanfest, 10-11 November 2006 at the Nordica Hotel in Reykjavik, where CCP detailed the Revelations (Kali) expansion launching just weeks later - exploration scanning, contracts, T2 invention, ship rigs, and the first eight new 0.0 regions.
Fanfest 2006 - Revelations / Kali Reveal
Fanfest 2006 ran Friday 10 and Saturday 11 November 2006 at the Nordica Hotel in Reykjavik. Tickets were 65 USD; Icelandair again sold flight + hotel packages from multiple European and North American cities. The two-day program followed the now-familiar shape: roundtables in the morning, dev presentations through the day, the on-site PvP tournament finals on Friday evening, and the dev band + closing party on Saturday.
The headline content was the Revelations expansion, the public name for what had been pitched at previous Fanfests as Kali. Originally conceived as three connected sub-expansions, Revelations brought the exploration scanning probes that opened up cosmic signature and anomaly content, a proper contract system replacing the old direct-trade workarounds, the invention mechanic that retired the Tech 2 research lottery, ship customisation via rigs, temporary combat boosters, and eight new 0.0 regions (the southern arm of the map including Period Basis, Esoteria, Paragon Soul, Querious, etc.). Revelations shipped on 28 November 2006, only seventeen days after Fanfest closed - close enough that the keynote was effectively a launch event.
